Now\, I don’t blame myself or feel much shame or guilt over what happened. I know that it is not my fault and that what happened to me does not define me. The resources they provided for me made me feel like I wasn’t alone.” \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Maddie didn’t have a father figure in her life\, so when Joe the family handyman started to show the young teen attention\, she was eager to become his apprentice. \nThe two started spending more and more time together. With a proud smile\, Maddie showed off her new construction and landscaping skills to her Mom. The trades interested Maddie and her self-esteem grew. Joe was the father Maddie never had. \nJoe even let Maddie drive the machinery\, but it was there that things started to turn. A touch here and there and Joe promised Maddie she could drive the machinery herself next time if she didn’t tell. Over the course of months\, Joe groomed Maddie. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Joe\, a married man\, started to tell Maddie she was his real true love. Maddie felt confused but loved. What started as a father-daughter relationship moved from shoulder rubs to full-blown abuse. \nTo make matters worse\, Maddie had a horrible skiing accident leaving her with a brain injury. Healing from a concussion\, Maddie was not able to advocate for herself. \nMaddie’s mom came home early one day to see the horror for herself. Maddie was brought to the CPCA where the abuse was stopped\, and investigators could begin prosecuting the perpetrator. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n GIVE NOW\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Thank You to Our\n#GivingTuesday Partners URL:https://www.thecpca.org/event/seasonofgiving/ CATEGORIES:CPCA Events END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20231021T090000 DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20231021T120000 DTSTAMP:20240328T175515 CREATED:20231003T183754Z LAST-MODIFIED:20231011T154508Z UID:7983-1697878800-1697889600@www.thecpca.org SUMMARY:2023 Battle of the Badges 5K DESCRIPTION:2023 BATTLE OF THE BADGES\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Create / Join a Team\n \n \n \n \n \n Donate Now\n \n \n \n \n \n Sponsor Event\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n ABOUT\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Join us for our Third Annual Battle of the Badges + Kids Fun Run 5K Event on October 21! Joslyn and her siblings were never encouraged to attend school and so most days they were absent. They weren’t brought to regular medical checkups. Their home contained no rules or regular structure that children need. In fact\, it was as if they were invisible. The day that Joslyn was found walking down the street naked as a toddler\, was the day she was removed from her mother. Living in and out of foster care\, Joslyn was separated from her siblings. At the age of 17\, she was molested. Feeling at fault and to blame\, Joslyn lost all self-respect and began to engage in risky behaviors leading her down a dark path of sex trafficking which resulted in her being kidnapped with her baby. \nLooking for acceptance\, love\, and all the affection she never received\, Joslyn was extremely vulnerable. At just 20 years old\, she entered into a relationship with a violent man who would physically assault her in front of her frightened daughter. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Joslyn knew she needed to make a change for her daughter. After one horrific beating\, Joslyn picked up the phone and made the call for help. Entering herself into a mental health program\, Joslyn asked for help in caring for her daughter while she gained the strength she needed to leave her abuser. Joslyn’s daughter was entered into temporary foster care. Joslyn’s life changed the day she walked into the CPCA.  \nJoslyn got to work quickly with our Program Coordinator gaining the skills necessary to create a safe home for her daughter. Joslyn attended classes every week learning new skills and participated in supervised visits with her daughter in our building. Each week we watched a scared young girl grow into a strong loving mother. Each week we watched a happy toddler run in to visit with her mother. Thanks to you\, Joslyn just secured her first apartment and is now ready for her daughter to come join her. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n GIVE NOW\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Thank You\nTo Our Matching Donors URL:https://www.thecpca.org/event/seasonofgiving2022/ CATEGORIES:CPCA Events END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20220916 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20220919 DTSTAMP:20240328T175516 CREATED:20220622T205713Z LAST-MODIFIED:20220921T192948Z UID:4948-1663300800-1663473599@www.thecpca.org SUMMARY:2022 One Too Many 5K DESCRIPTION:2022 CPCA One Too Many 5K\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Register for 5K\n \n \n \n \n \n View Teams\n \n \n \n \n \n Donate Now\n \n \n \n \n \n Sponsor Event\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n IN-PERSON OPTIONS\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n $49\,437 OF $75\,000 GOAL\n \n \n \n 66%\n 66%\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n The race to end child abuse is back! Camilla recalls a time when the family was happy. Her father worked hard to build a life for them. It wasn’t long however after her sister’s birth that her mother’s mental health rapidly deteriorated. The family split. Camilla’s father filed for custody of his girls but it would be some time before he would see them. Their Mom spiraled out of control and became dependent on a new boyfriend who quickly exercised his physical and financial power over the family. \nThe mother’s boyfriend began beating the children at night. Nighttime became a source of fear and anxiety for Camilla. She was confused at how a Mom who loved them could stand by and allow them to be hurt so badly. The feeling of confusion was quickly replaced by despair when her Mom joined in with emotional abuse. \nCamilla found her only escape through reading and learning. Her mother soon took away the last thing she found joy in—her books. Camilla’s Mom began withholding other items too—homework\, clothing and toys. Camilla quickly became Mom to Mariana doing her best to make sure her little sister was fed and clothed. Mariana was embarrassed to go to school and would often shake. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Camilla’s life changed the day she was brought to The CPCA. She was finally in a safe place to share the secret she and her sister had been keeping. Because of YOU\, Camilla and Mariana have been reunited with their father who has full custody of his daughters. We provided the sisters with trauma therapy\, play therapy and even equine therapy. They are finally receiving the love they have so desperately craved from their father and his entire family. They are supported in their desire to learn. Today Camilla is in high honors in her new school and participates in sports. She is returning to her proper role in the family as daughter and older sister\, instead of Mom to Mariana. While the word “Mom” can still shake them at times\, to look at the two girls today\, no one would ever know what they have survived. Adversity and courage will always tie these sisters together. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n GIVE NOW\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Thank You\nTo Our Matching Donors URL:https://www.thecpca.org/event/seasonofgiving2021/ CATEGORIES:CPCA Events END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20210917 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20210921 DTSTAMP:20240328T175517 CREATED:20210219T234257Z LAST-MODIFIED:20211001T172700Z UID:1989-1631851200-1632110399@www.thecpca.org SUMMARY:2021 One Too Many 5K DESCRIPTION:$66\,123 of $40\,000 Goal\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Register for 5K\n \n \n \n \n \n View Teams\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Donate Now\n \n \n \n \n \n Sponsor Event\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n When: Anytime between September 17th and September 19thWhere: Your favorite location or partake in one of our local gatherings!
