What is Project Protect 2021?

The CPCA’s mission is to end child abuse in the Hudson Valley. In order to do so, knowing how to identify and report child abuse is key.

We are asking our community to take the pledge and become one of the 2,021 people in 2021 to learn the warning signs of child abuse and neglect.

Why take the pledge?

Over 1,000 cases of child abuse are reported in Dutchess County each year. Around 5X as many go unreported. With activities canceled and online schooling the new normal, abuse has been easier for perpetrators to hide. The result? Abuse is happening more often and with greater severity. Five children die each day from abuse in the U.S. but we know sharing the warning signs works!

What will you learn?

When you think of child abuse, your first thought may be of bruises, but the signs aren’t always so clear.

This presentation answers questions such as:

  • How prevalent is abuse in our community?
  • What are the different types of abuse?
  •  How can you tell when a child needs YOUR help?
  • What are some signs of child abuse that will surprise you?
  • If a child needs help, what should you do?
  • What are some of the myths about reporting child abuse?
  • You will also have the opportunity to ask your own questions!

Ending child abuse takes all of us. Become one of the 2,021 trained by clicking the link below.

For our corporate partners: Pledge a commitment to the children in our community by hosting your own virtual training session. Your company will receive a framed certificate upon completion that you can hang in your establishment. For more information or to set up a date, email Richard Keller-Coffey.
