(POUGHKEEPSIE, NY) ― New York State Senator Rob Rolison and wife Lori were honored today, October 24, with a plaque unveiling held outside the Child Advocacy Center at the Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse (CPCA) for their unwavering commitment to the protection of children and families. The Rolisons will henceforth have a Family Room named for them at CPCA.
“Senator Rolison has dedicated his career to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive in a safe and nurturing environment.” Marco Ingoglia, Executive Director for the CPCA stated. “Through his efforts, Senator Rolison has not only raised awareness about the challenges facing families but has also provided tangible solutions that uplift our communities.”
The Rolisons have held a longstanding connection with the CPCA where they have been supporters for many years. The Senator was most recently highlighted at the CPCA’s Champions Against Child Abuse 50th Anniversary dinner back in May for his advocacy of crime victims and support of child abuse prevention. Beyond the CPCA, the Senator has been promoting child and family safety throughout his career, first as a police officer and then in public office. During his tenure as Mayor of the City of Poughkeepsie, he worked with the Poughkeepsie City School District to develop the Children’s Cabinet that creates a cradle-to-career agenda for youth in the city. He currently serves as Ranking Member of the New York State Senate Children and Families Committee.
Having recently renovated the Child Advocacy Center to embrace a more home-like environment, the CPCA felt that this was an ideal opportunity to acknowledge the Senator and his wife for their tireless efforts to improve the lives of children and families in the Hudson Valley.
“We are deeply honored to have one of CPCA’s family rooms named for us,” said Senator Rolison. “As grandparents, we want the best state and society for the rising generation of New York’s children. I will continue to work with my Senate colleagues from all parties who can help us achieve a better future for children and families in New York, especially those victimized by abuse, negligence, and violence. Thank you to CPCA and its compassionate and talented staff for this incredible recognition.”
