FAQs
Where will trainings be held?
Trainings will be held live over Zoom unless noted otherwise. Attendance for the entire duration of the training is required for the facilitators to verify your attendance with NYS for your certification. Cameras are strongly encouraged to be on for the duration of the training.
What dates and times are available for trainings?
All training dates are listed in the dropdown menu of the registration form. Times are listed next to the date. They will be either listed at 2PM EST or 4PM EST.
How long are the trainings?
Trainings take two hours to complete.
Is there a cost for this certification?
Yes. There is a $25.00 registration fee that includes the training, your completion certificate, and the electronic verification of your training with NYS.
Note: All sales for trainings are final and refunds will not be given. If finances are a barrier to accessing this training, please contact the facilitator and/or Director of Programs to discuss arrangements.
When does registration close?
Registration will close the Friday preceding the scheduled date, and attendance is limited. We understand that there is a high demand for this training at this time and will be scheduling trainings frequently to make sure that we can accommodate everyone who is interested in receiving this training.
What do I need to complete before the training?
If you have signed up for the Mandated Reporter Training, you must complete, sign, and return the Certificate of Completion form linked below to jhoover@thecpca.org no less than 1 business day before your scheduled training.
Please fill out your full name, date of birth, mailing address, and profession. If you work in a school, please also include the last 5 digits of your social security number. It is important that it is filled out legibly and accurately. Additionally, the information you provide must match the information on file with your licensure/certification with NYS.
Please also complete the Mandated Reporter pre-test before the training begins. We will go over it at the end of the training.
Are there group rates available?
Yes! If you are interested in setting up a training for your professional group in person or online, please contact our Community Education Facilitator to discuss scheduling and pricing.
What should I do if I did not receive a confirmation email.
Once you have registered for a training and completed your PayPal payment, you should receive a confirmation email with instructions for the course and a Zoom link. Please be sure to check your spam/junk folders if you do not see it in your inbox.
NYS Mandated Reporter Training
Mandated Reporter Training in Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Maltreatment/Neglect is a license requirement for certain professionals in New York State. This training meets the curriculum requirements for the Mandated Reporter Training that all licensed professionals are required to complete before April 1, 2025.
After completing the training, professionals will be able to:
- Be able to determine if a child shows indicators of maltreatment or abuse, including in a virtual setting.
- Recognize the impact of trauma and ACEs on children, families, and themselves.
- Recognize the mitigating effects of the five protective factors on trauma..
- Recognize the impact of bias on their decision-making.
- Understand when they have a legal obligation to call the SCR.
- Recognize how they may better connect individuals and families with services.
- Know how to prepare to make the call to the SCR.
- Know how to complete the LDSS 2221A form.
- Understand their right and obligations as a mandated reporter.
