In New York State, specific professionals are “mandated” by law to report cases of suspected child abuse and maltreatment. This training will meet that standard and fulfill the Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Maltreatment/Neglect Workshop. Mandated reporters are legally bound to make the call and submit follow-up information. All reports of child abuse or neglect should be made immediately- at any time of the day and on any day on the week- by telephone to the State Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment.

    All day
    December 1, 2020

Together, we can change a child’s life. Be a part of this global movement by supporting the CPCA on December 1st for a 24-hour day of giving.

Since COVID-19 hit the Hudson Valley, families experiencing layoffs, quarantines and other disruptions are now strained beyond measure. With activities canceled and online schooling the new normal, abuse has been easier for perpetrators to hide. The result? Abuse is happening more often and with greater severity. More than half of the callers through the National Sexual Abuse Hotline recently have been minors reporting their own abuse and the majority of them were living with their abuser.

Although this news is dire, The CPCA has been working throughout the pandemic to continue providing essential services to keep children safe and heal from trauma, as well as provide programming and education to ensure that our community prevents future abuse from occurring.

Children deserve to grow up in a healthy environment free of trauma and abuse, but we need you to ensure their safety. Join us on December 1st for this day of giving and change a child’s life. Visit https://www.thecpca.org/seasonofgiving/ for more information on what your gift can provide.
