2024 Child Abuse Prevention Month

April 1 @ 12:00 am - April 30 @ 11:59 pm

WHAT IS CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH

Since 1983, April has been designated as Child Abuse Prevention Month. Each April, communities are encouraged to increase awareness about child and family well-being, and work together to implement effective strategies that support families and prevent child abuse and neglect.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

The CPCA has events and ways that you can participate throughout the month of April in order to raise awareness and help our mission to end child abuse in the Hudson Valley.

CALENDAR

APRIL 1–7

Restaurant Week for Child Abuse Prevention

Help protect children when you dine in or take out. Grab a meal from our partnering restaurants and a portion of your sales will be donated back to The CPCA. Tag us on Facebook or Instagram and use the hashtag #CPCARestaurantWeek to let us know where you’ve been!

APRIL 5

#GoBlueHV

Let’s turn the Hudson Valley blue on April 5th! Sport your favorite blue outfit (shirt, pants, hat, shoes, etc.) and tag us on Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #GoBlueHV.

April 18 & 30

Learn the Warning Signs of Abuse

Learn how to keep children safe from abuse and neglect by learning the signs of when a child needs your help. This free virtual training is 45 minutes long and is offered Monday, April 18 at 10:30AM and Tuesday, April 30 at 11:30AM.

April 1 & 29

Listen to Q92

Tune in to Q92 as we share ways that you can get involved to prevent child abuse in our community.

ALL MONTH

Give a Greeting that Gives Back

Purchase a special greeting card designed by Melissa Misra of Happy Hunebee Designs and 100% of the sales will get donated back to the CPCA. Cards are available to purchase at Sunflower Market in both Rhinebeck and Woodstock, as well as the CPCA office.

Display A Pinwheel

Pinwheels have been used a symbol for child abuse prevention. A pinwheel connotes playfulness, joy, and childhood. It has come to serve as a physical reminder of the great childhoods we want for all children. And as a symbol, the cyclical nature of the pinwheel calls to mind the positive cycles of love and support we want to help families create.
